    (May 15, 1926-November 6, 2001)
Born in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom
Twin brother of playwright Peter Shaffer
Wrote the plays 'Sleuth' (1970), 'Murderer' (1975) and 'Whodunnit' (1977)

Why he might be annoying:

He was frequently confused with his brother.
'Murderer' and 'Whodunnit' come off as unsuccessful attempts to recapture the success of 'Sleuth.'
He was married three times and divorced twice.
After his death, his mistress sued unsuccessfully for a share of his estate.

Why he might not be annoying:

'Sleuth' ran for over 2,000 performances on both the West End and Broadway and won the Tony for Best Play.
Christopher Lee reportedly called 'The Wicker Man' his favorite script.
When one critic dismissed Sleuth as 'just entertainment,' he responded, 'It's a bloody sight harder to entertain than to bore.'
