Emigrated to Canada (1949) and Australia (1955)
Killed one man in Brisbane and four in Sydney (1961-62)
Convicted of murder and received five consecutive life sentences (1963)
Known as 'the Mutilator'

Why he might be annoying:

He was twice hospitalized as a schizophrenic.
Shortly after his arrival in Australia, he was arrested for touching an undercover officer's penis in a public restroom.
His m.o. (except in his first murder) was to violently stab his victim dozens of times about the head and neck, and cut off their genitals after they were dead.
The testimony at his trial was so gruesome that at least one juror fainted.
Shortly after he was imprisoned, he beat another inmate almost to death with a metal bucket.
After one of his few supervised trips outside, he said (without apparent irony), 'It's terrible out there. People aren't even safe in their own homes.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He joined the Lancashire Fusiliers during World War II.
While serving, he was raped in an air raid shelter by a corporal.
He was ruled sane enough to be released back into society (1980), but asked to remain in prison.
He said, 'I have no desire to go and live on the outside. I wouldn't last five minutes.'
