His nickname is 'Big Bird.'
He was way past his prime at the time he announced his retirement.
His tenure as Kings head coach was considered a disappointment.
He was fired by the Devils, despite the fact the team had a winning record (2002).
He resigned midway through the 2005-06 season citing he couldn't handle the stress of coaching.

He was considered one of the league's premier defensemen in his prime.
He earned seven Stanley Cup rings as a player and coach combined.
He served as an alternate captain for the Canadiens for the majority of his tenure with the team.
He is an avid equestrian and along with teammate Steve Shutt co-founded the Montreal Polo Club.
Despite taking over for Robbie Ftorek near the end of the regular season, he guided the Devils to their second Stanley Cup championship (2000).
