Why she might be annoying
History remembers her more for her ugliness than anything else.
In fact, she has been called ‘the ugliest woman in history.’
She was called ‘the Ugly Duchess,’ when in reality she was an ugly Countess.
She was reportedly a harsh and brutal ruler.
One critic called her ‘Frankenstein’s monster in a dress.’
Why she might not be annoying
Her first husband was impotent (imagine that!).
She outlived her son and second husband.
When the Holy Roman Empire tried to invade the Tyrol, her subjects fought for her.
People said her ugliness caused the Black Death, but it didn’t (probably).
She inspired a character in Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.’
Somebody wrote a play about her.
