Vocalist

The Resume

    (February 1, 1937-December 31, 2018)
    Born in Chickasaw, Alabama
    Died in Daytona Beach, Florida
Member of Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show (1968-85)
Notable work was singing lead vocals on their single 'Cover of the Rolling Stone'

Why he might be annoying:

Many casual music fans mistakenly assumed he was Dr. Hook, due to his trademark appearance.
He made an agreement with former bandmate Dennis Locorriere where he could use the Dr. Hook name in concert promotions, but had to pay Locorriere licensing rights in order to use it.
He planned to quit music and pursue a logging career in the Pacific Northwest, prior to his accident.
He was a heavy drinker and party animal back in the 1960's and 1970's.
He planned to pursue a solo career upon his departure from Dr. Hook, which was unsuccessful.

Why he might not be annoying:

He lost his right eye in a car crash (1967).
His trademark eyepatch and cowboy hat were to cover the scars on his face from the accident.
Despite not being the band's frontman, he was their most noticeable member.
He never took credit when asked if he was Dr. Hook, often stating in interviews that the band's bus driver had the distinction.
He was married for close to 50 years to the same woman at the time of his passing.
