Why they might be annoying:

    Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross (who, for what it's worth, is black) said the arresting officers did nothing wrong, having first made several 'polite' requests for the pair to leave the store.
    They reached a settlement over the arrest with Philadelphia for $1 each.

Why they might not be annoying:

    They were in Starbucks waiting for a business partner to arrive when they were arrested.
    They were victims of racial profiling.
    The arrest was witnessed by other cafe patrons with one even filming the incident; that reel became viral and made headlines.
    The arrest drew worldwide outrage resulting in groups picketing that Starbucks location and threats of boycotting the entire Starbucks brand.
    Nelson graduated from Bloomberg University in 2017 and was a member of Omega Psi Phi.
    Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson met up with both men to apologize.
    The controversy prompted Starbucks to close stores on May 29 to conduct racial bias training.
    The manager of the cafe who called the police has since left the company.
    Andrew Yaffee, the business partner (who is Caucasian), was seen in the video confronting and questioning the police about the reasons for the arrest.
    They received an apology from the police.
    On May 2, 2017, they set up scholarship programs for young entrepreneurs worth $200k, funded by the city.
    The $1 (per person) settlement showed they were not pursuing their actions for the money.
