The Resume

    (1292-August 22, 1358)
    Born in Paris, France
    Birth name was Isabella Capet
Queen Consort of Edward Plantagenet II of England
Mother of Edward Plantagenet III of England
Daughter of King Philip IV 'the Fair' of France

Why she might be annoying:

Her husband took all her wedding jewelry and gave it to his boyfriend.
She had her husband's boyfriend murdered.
She and her lover, Roger Mortimer, had Edward II imprisoned and forced him to resign the crown.
They later conspired to kill Edward II with a red-hot poker shoved up Edward's rectum.
Because of this she was called The Wolf of France.
She married at the age of twelve.
Her father-in-law kept trying to break her engagement to Edward II.
She had an adulterous affair with Roger Mortimer.
She and Mortimer led an invasion of England, deposed Edward II, and proclaimed themselves regents for her son.
She and Mortimer had their enemies castrated, disemboweled, and drawn and quartered.
She allegedly had her husband murdered in prison.
She granted money, special favors, and titles to Mortimer, which angered the nobility.
    She was nicknamed 'the She-Wolf.'
She encouraged her son to pursue his claim to the French throne, which triggered the Hundred Years' War.
Her son staged a coup, had Mortimer executed for treason, and forced her into retirement.

Why she might not be annoying:

She married a gay king because her marriage was arranged by her father, the king of France, King Philip IV.
    Her marriage was pathetic.
Her own son, King Edward III had her lover, Mortimer, executed for treason.
She was retired of court life when Mortimer died.
She was married to one of the worst rulers in British History.
Her husband preferred his lovers and favorites over her.
She was described as being very beautiful.
She tried to support her husband for most of his reign.
To be fair, her main enemies, the Despensers, were greedy, corrupt, and vicious men who terrorized England.
She was nearly captured by Scottish armies when her husband left her behind.
There is a theory that her husband did not die at all, but instead escaped from prison and spent the rest of his life as a hermit.
She had a talent for politics and statecraft, which could never be said of her husband.
She went to France to negotiate a treaty on her husband's behalf.
After being deposed, she lived out her remaining years in comfortable retirement.
She was portrayed by Sophie Marceau in the movie 'Braveheart' (though the movie's portrayal of her is inaccurate).
