    Born in San Gabriel, California
    Pitcher for the New York Mets (1985–89), Minnesota Twins (1989–95, 1996–99), Boston Red Sox (1995) and the Chicago Cubs (1999–2000)

Why he might be annoying:

    He is a born-again Christian.
    He was originally an infielder but converted to pitcher in college.
    He did two separate stints with the Twins, both times he was traded from the team.
    He was inconsistent during his stint as a starting pitcher.
    He spent the later half of his career on poor Twins and Cubs teams.

    He was one of the prospects the Twins received in the Frank Viola trade.
    He was the winning pitcher for the Mets during their Game 6 comeback in the World Series (1986).
    He was a member of two World Series winning teams (1986, 1991).
    He holds the Twins franchise record for most career saves.
    He was inducted into the Minnesota Twins Hall of Fame (2008).
    When he was told by former teammate Ron Darling his fingers were too short to throw the splitfinger, he used a softball to stretch the cartilage in his fingers in order to perfect it.
