The Resume

    (March 11, 1883-September 25, 1969)
Born in Kampong Speu Province, Cambodia
Supreme Patriarch of the Theravada Buddhist sect Maha Nikaya
Writer of the Cambodian national anthem 'Nokor Reach'
    Compiled the Khmer dictionary (1967)
Devised 'Khmerization', a program that uses Sanskrit and Pali for new Khmer words

Why he might be annoying:

His Khmerization program was not accepted by all Cambodians, particularly pro-French intellectuals who wanted to use French words into the Khmer vocabulary.
It took him 52 years to publish the first edition of the Khmer dictionary.
It was rather unclear whether or not he actually wrote the patriotic ballad 'Savada Khmer' or just sponsored it's publication (December 9, 1958).

Why he might not be annoying:

Despite his peasant origins, he was the most knowledgeable monk Cambodia has ever had.
He conserved Khmer culture and language from French attempts to assimilate the Khmers.
He modernized Cambodia's Buddhist teaching methods.
