Why they might be annoying:

    'Babymetal'?
They belong to a genre known as 'kawaii metal' ('cute metal'), which combines a group of Japanese pop idol girls (not unlike Morning Musume or AKB48) singing with a heavy-metal backing band.
Furthermore, the kawaii metal sound is the combination of heavy metal instrumentation with bubblegum-pop melodies and lyrics.
Before forming the group, the girls weren't really familiar with heavy metal music.
Not only all the members, but also their producers, backing musicians and managers, go by nicknames ending with the '-metal' suffix.
They claim to be guided by a 'Fox God' (one of their catchphrases is 'Only the Fox God knows').
They have been endorsed by the Church of Satan.
Yuimetal could not perform with the group in December 2017 due to illness, and was temporarily replaced by two backing dancers for their American tour the following year.

Why they might not be annoying:

They invented the 'kawaii metal' genre, and are a unique and novel addition to both heavy metal and the international music scene.
They have an international cult fan following.
They collaborated with members of DragonForce for the song 'Road of Resistance'.
They performed as a support act for Metallica, Korn, Guns'N'Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lady Gaga.
Members of metal bands Anthrax, Judas Priest, Slipknot and Megadeth are some of their more famous fans.
Rob Zombie came to their defense against haters and critics on social media.
The three core members of the group are unlockable playable characters in Nintendo's 'Super Mario Maker'.
