Earned a BA from Harvard, (Magna Cum Laude), an MA from Columbia and a PhD from the University of Chicago, all in economics
Has taught economics at UCLA, Amerherst, Brandeis, Cornell, Rutgers and Howard
United States Marine

Why he might be annoying:

In his first semester at Harvard he earned 2 D's and an F.
His columns have become predictable in both subject matter and point of view.
He rarely gives interviews and more rarely gives in depth interviews.
He's a grump.

Why he might not be annoying:

He strongly favors personal and economic liberty.
He describes himself as a libertarian and not a conservative.
He favors decriminalizing drugs.
He favors using empirical evidence to judge the actual effects of government programs and doesn't care about good intentions.
He has shown, using empirical evidence, the damage done by government interventions like affirmative action and busing.
He sarcastically calls know it all big government liberals 'The Anointed.'
David Mamet calls him 'our greatest philosopher.'
He grew up in terrible poverty and racism and still overcame these obstacles to make something out of himself.
