Murderers

The Resume

    Born in Liverpool, United Kingdom
    Jon Venables (August 13, 1982- )
    Robert Thompson (August 23, 1982- )
Abducted and killed two-year-old James Patrick Bulger (February 12, 1993)
Convicted of murder (November 24, 1993)
Youngest convicted murderers of the 20th century
Released on parole at age 18 and given new identities (February, 2001)

Why they might be annoying:

Venables had been suspended from school for throttling another student with a ruler.
Before abducting Bulger, they tried to kidnap another child, but were stopped by the child’s mother.
After abducting Bulger from a shopping mall, they led him on two and a half mile walk across Liverpool to a railway line where they killed him.
When confronted by people during the walk, they claimed Bulger was lost and they were taking him to a police station.
They repeatedly kicked Bulger, pelted him with stones and bricks, and beat him with an iron bar.
They inflicted so many injuries on Bulger that the pathologist was unable to determine which was the fatal blow.
Venable’s defense attorney later called him ‘a very convincing little liar.’
Thompson’s complete lack of remorse drove a member of his defense team to shout, ‘Why don’t you ever cry, you little bastard?’
When he was 17, Venables had sex with one of the women working at the detention center where he was held.
Venables was arrested after getting into a fight outside a nightclub (September, 2008); charges were dropped when he agreed to go an alcohol awareness class.
Three months later, a curfew was imposed on him after he was found in possession of cocaine.
Venables returned to prison for three years after being convicted of possessing and distributing child pornography (2010-13).
Venables was caught with child porn a second time and received a three year prison sentence after pleading guilty (February 7, 2018).

Why they might not be annoying:

Thompson’s father abandoned the family and his mother was an alcoholic.
Thompson was bullied by his older brothers for sucking his thumb.
As part of their parole, they were banned from seeing each other, contacting Bulger’s family, or returning to Liverpool.
Thompson’s phone was hacked by ‘News of the World’ reporters.
As of 2018, Thompson seems to have avoided trouble since his release.
