    Gamble was fined for payola.
    They printed 'There's a Message in our Music' on most Philadelphia International albums.
    Their Philadelphia sound paved the way for disco.
    They won the 1989 Grammy for R&B Song of the Year with 'If You Don't Know Me By Now,' which they wrote back in 1972.

Why they might not be annoying:

    Their Philadelphia sound dominated the soul charts in the post-Motown pre-disco era of the early and mid 70s.
    Gamble modestly declared, 'We were lucky to live in a city that had so much great talent.'
    Michael Jackson commented, 'Just watching Huff play the piano while Gamble sang taught me more about the anatomy of a song than anything else.'
    They started a 'Clean up the Ghetto' project in Philadelphia that spread to Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta.
