Why she might be annoying:

She was opinionated.
She was divorced three times.
She had eccentric taste in movies.
She would talk and snort and laugh out loud at critics' screenings, which are supposed to be silent.
She claimed never to see a film more than once.
She hated the great directors Stanley Kubrick and Federico Fellini.
She could be incredibly cruel.
She said: 'Rain Man' is Dustin Hoffman humping one note on a piano for two hours and eleven minutes.'
She had groupies known as 'Paulettes.'

Why she might not be annoying:

She always spoke her mind.
She was a witty writer, and was great with a putdown.
When her boss said that the director of a movie she'd panned was like a son to him, she responded: 'Tough shit, Bill.'
She was the first popular film critic.
She was hated and feared by the film industry.
She loved getting hate mail, because seeing people get so passionate about movies made her happy.
She suffered from Parkinson's disease for many years.
