Why she might be annoying:

She had a son out of wedlock with French politician Lucien Millevoye.
After her son died, she became convinced reincarnation would bring him back so she and Millevoye made love on the child's grave. (It apparently worked: nine months later she gave birth to a daughter, Iseult.)
Yeats said 'all the troubles of my life began' when he met her.
She shared Yeats' obsession with the occult.

Why she might not be annoying:

She founded an organization to feed poor children in Dublin.
She worked with the French Red Cross during World War I and the White Cross relief agency during the Irish War of Independence.
Her husband, John MacBride, was reportedly an abusive alcoholic.
Her son Sean MacBride won a Nobel Peace Prize (1974).
