Why he might be annoying
He is a pretty boy.
He is a devout Catholic who opposes abortion and same-sex marriage.
He rode on the coattails of the Tea Party faction in the GOP.
He believes that George W. Bush made the right decision in the invasion and occupation of Iraq and believes the US Army should stay there for an indefinite amount of time.
After playing up his conservative Catholic credentials for votes, it was revealed he was baptized as a Mormon and spent part of his youth as an active LDS (February 23, 2012).
Why he might not be annoying
His parents were Cuban refugees.
His father was a bartender and his mother worked as a hotel housekeeper in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He married Miami Dolphins cheerleader Jeanette Dousdebes in 1997.
