Why he might be annoying:

He used an illegal satellite connection for his broadcasts.
He risked his life despite having a pregnant wife.
Ironically, he died just as the international community imposed a no-fly zone to protect Benghazi and other rebel-held areas.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was described by Der Spiegel as 'the man who just might be the most important person in the revolution.'
He provided proof that Muammar Gaddafi was violating the cease-fire that he had publicly announced.
During his first live broadcast, he declared 'I am not afraid to die. I am afraid to lose the battle.'
