He tackled Islanders' goaltender Billy Smith in a fit of rage.
Following the departure of Stu Barnes as team captain in a 2003 trade, he elected to go with a rotating captaincy twice and a platoon captaincy between Chris Drury and Daniel Briere before naming Craig Rivet the team captain in 2008.
He publicly ripped Darcy Tucker in a postgame interview (2006).
He spent his last two seasons of playing professional hockey in the minor leagues.
His teams were considered good, but not good enough to win the Stanley Cup.

He guided the Sabres to the Stanley Cup Finals in his second season as head coach (1999).
He guided the Sabres to a record setting season, which earned him the Jack Adams Award (2005-06).
He was the sixth former Sabres player to serve as the team's head coach.
His 571 victories with the Sabres rank second to Al Arbour coaching a single franchise.
He survived three ownership changes, a bankruptcy and losing various players due to budget constraints, but somehow found a way to survive fifteen seasons coaching the team before his firing.
