Why he might be annoying
He never wore a helmet during his playing career.
Despite playing 14 seasons with the Blackhawks, the team traded him to the Sharks for virtually nothing in return.
He spent his final two NHL seasons on pitiful Sharks teams.
He missed out on playing in the Stanley Cup Finals as a result of being traded a year earlier (1991-92).
He developed a reputation of assembling teams which are contenders, but not good enough to win a Stanley Cup.
Why he might not be annoying
He was a standout defenseman in the Ontario Hockey League when he played for his hometown Ottawa 67's.
He ranks among the Blackhawks franchise defensive leaders in various categories.
He played in eight NHL All-Star games during his career.
He was the first captain in the history of the San Jose Sharks franchise.
He isn't afraid to make a bold move to improve his team without maxing out his team's salary cap, as he traded for both Joe Thornton and Dany Heatley in the post-lockout era.
