He, along with Tyler Seguin, was overhyped by the Canadian media going into the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
He shares his name with a former hockey player, who is affiliated with another Oilers franchise in the Central Hockey League.
He is a pretty-boy.
He was widely touted as being the Oilers franchise savior, upon being drafted by the team.
His rookie debut game was overshadowed by that of teammate Jordan Eberle.
Despite stating his intentions to make the NHL, he was drafted by a Kontinental Hockey League club as a 17 year old, with the hope of playing in their league.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is the son of former CFL player Steve Hall, who was training with the Canadian Olympic bobsled team at the time of his birth.
He earned Memorial Cup MVP honors for consecutive years, marking a rare Canadian Hockey League feat.
He wears #4 in honor of Bobby Orr, who serves as his agent.
Despite the Oilers taking #4 out of circulation following Kevin Lowe's retirement, the latter granted him permission to wear it.
He is the second player in the history of the Oilers franchise to wear #4.
He is the first player in the storied history of the Oilers franchise to be drafted first overall.
