    Hosted the British TV series 'Ken Hom's Chinese Cookery' (1984), 'Hot Chefs' (1992), 'Ken Hom's Hot Wok' (1996), 'Ken Hom's Travels with a Wok' (1998), 'Foolproof Chinese Cookery' (2000), 'Take on the Takeaway' (2007) and 'Noodle Road' (2008)
    Author of over 20 cookbooks
    Has his own lines of woks and ready-to-eat meals
    He was a contestant on an all-chefs version of the BBC's Weakest Link.
    He is big in Europe but essentially unknown in his native America.
    For example, he sold 7 million woks worldwide, but only 5,000 of them in the US.
    He complained, 'It was interesting that I was asked by Tony Blair to cook for a heads of state summit, but when the White House has a Chinese state dinner, it doesn't even ask me for advice on what to serve.'
    When he travels, he brings a suitcase containing his favorite green tea.
    He first learned cooking at age eleven, working in his uncle's Chinese restaurant.
    He has hosted charity banquets for numerous causes, including Action Against Hunger, the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and the Princess of Wales Hospice.
    He was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire for 'services to culinary arts.'
    He said of his British success, 'Stranger than fiction. Here I am, a Chinese-American, becoming this sort of icon in another country.'
