Biblical Character

The Resume

Why he might be annoying:

He initially thought of King Ahasuerus (Achasheverosh) as a boorish party animal.
Several Jews, although not all, ignored his warnings not to be taken in by the king’s secular agenda.
He received the honor Haman thought would be his, thus inspiring the plot to exterminate the Jews.
A pro wrestler bore his name in a short-lived WWE career (as a heel).

Why he might not be annoying:

He raised Esther practically as his own daughter.
He was the earliest Israelite to be officially known as a Jew.
Haman sold himself as a slave to him.
He alerted Esther to a plot by two court attendants making an attempt on the king’s life — which was attempted and subsequently foiled.
In defying Haman’s decree, he duplicated the situation his ancestor Benjamin faced at the hands of Haman’s ancestor Esau.
Upon Haman’s execution, he became one of the highest-ranking officials in the king’s empire.
