The Resume

    (October 8, 1957-July 27, 2016)
    Born in Baltimore, Maryland
    Cartoonist for the Washington Post
Created the comic strip ‘Cul de Sac’
Winner of the National Cartoonists Society’s Reuben Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year (2011)

Why he might be annoying:

His editor said about convincing him to draw a strip, ‘We scheduled a lunch. It took two years to get that lunch to happen. Then it took another two years before he handed me the first dozen strips.
When ‘Cul de Sac’ went from appearing only in the Post to being nationally syndicated, it had to undergo some rebooting to be less Washington-centric.
He said, ‘I’m a last minute cartoon guy. I keep drawing until the courier shows up.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He created the poem ‘Make the Pie Higher’ by assembling some of George W. Bush’s more incoherent remarks.
Bill Watterson said, ‘Cul de Sac has it all--intelligence, gentle humor, a delightful way with words, and, most surprising of all, wonderful, wonderful drawings.’
He had to stop work on ‘Cul de Sac’ when Parkinson’s disease affected his ability to draw (2012).
He raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Michael J. Fox Foundation to fight against Parkinson’s.
