    Appeared in the films 'Hans Christian Anderson' (1952), 'Anything Goes' (1956), 'Folies-Bergere' (1956), 'Too Many Lovers' (1957) and 'Guinguette' (1959)

    In several of her films, she was billed using the single name 'Jeanmaire.'
    Time magazine said she had a 'raspy, pushcart-vendor voice.'
    She starred on Broadway in a revival of 'Can-Can' that folded after five performances (1981).

    Her dancing was known for its energy and passion.
    She has been married to choreographer Roland Petit for over 50 years.
    Howard Hughes was so obsessed with her that he bought an entire ballet company as part of an (unsuccessful) attempt to seduce her.
