Why Kojak might be annoying:

The truth be told Telly Savalas probably had the best hair on the show.
No women cops ever had a major role.
There was an dumb ass attempted remake with Ving Rhames as Kojak.

Why Kojak might not be annoying:

It portrayed cops as hardened, burned out, real-life professionals and not as a bunch of lightweight pretty boys.
It showed very little of the characters' personal lives.
It won a butt load of awards; including four straight Golden Globes for Telly Savalas and over a dozen Emmys.
Who knew that a fat, bald, middle-aged guy could be a sex symbol?
It made Tootsie Pops acceptable for grown men.
