Why he might be annoying:

While still a rookie, he was placed on the roster for space flights ahead of veterans of the astronaut program.
He carried seeds into space on behalf of the U.S Forest Service which were planted on return and named 'Moon trees.'
The first time he flew solo as an Air Force cadet he began to sing 'Into The Wild Blue Yonder' over the radio.

Why he might not be annoying:

He traveled to the Moon and didn't get to walk on its surface.
He has worked as a smoke jumper for the U.S Forest Service.
He graduated from the U.S.A.F Aerospace Test Pilots School.
He served his country as a Colonel in the U.S Air Force.
He has held a number of high ranking positions in international and U.S. businesses.
He was a family man and a devoted patriot.
