He was uncredited in many films.
He was credited as Nick O'Demus on 'Amos n' Andy.'
His slow moving and dumb witted janitor of Lightnin' on 'Amos n' Andy' was a poor stereotype of blacks.
Because of his characterization and others on 'Amos n' Andy,' Bill Cosby purchased the rights to the show, specifically to stop anyone from viewing them.
