Why he might be annoying:

He's a rare and disagreeable interview.
He isn't known for being easy to get along with.
Some consider his writing (versus his art) as being juvenile and derivative.
He rarely portrays women in a dignified fashion.
He makes short animated movies but doesn't release them.
He's done very few album covers despite his success with 'Bat Out of Hell."
Very little of his work is family friendly.

Why he might not be annoying:

With the possible exception of The Beatles 'Sgt. Pepper's' album, Meatloaf's 'Bat Out of Hell' is the coolest album cover of all time.
One of his creations, Den, has been called pornographic, a charge he strongly and justifiably denies.
Bloodstar, one of his many solo efforts has been called the first graphic novel.
He cites Robert E. Howard, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and Howard Phillip Lovecraft as inspirations.
He is one of the oldest and most established contemporary fantasy artists alive today and is one of the few artists to have been major contributers to both Heavy Metal magazine and its French forbearer, Metal Hurlant.
He has a truly excellent website.
His work is very popular among other writers and artists in the fantasy community. Will Eisner says, 'Corben's works is singular in its humanity. 'The ever reticent R. Crumb once said 'Corben's stuff was great!' Uber fan Frank Miller waxed poetically, 'There was something just so joyously excessive and erotic about his stuff. I just ate it up.' And the legendary H. R. Giger wrote, 'People like the American Richard Corben are in my view maestros.'
