Football Player

The Resume

    (January 23, 1936- )
    Born in Jordan, Montana
    Gerald Louis Kramer
Offensive guard for the Green Bay Packers (1958–68)
Drafted 39th overall by the Packers in the 1958 NFL Draft
    Wore #64
Played in three Pro Bowls (1962-63,1967)
    Five-time NFL championship winner (1961-62, 1965-67)
    Two-time Super Bowl champion (1967-68)
Author of 'Instant Replay,' 'Farewell to Football,' 'Lombardi: Winning is the Only Thing,' and 'Distant Replay'

Why he might be annoying:

He was habitually sidelined during games due to various injuries he suffered.
He described his colostomy operation as 'a horror movie that hasn't been written yet.'
Google searches for his name inevitably turn up images related to Seinfeld (‘Jerry’ and ‘Kramer’).
Vince Lombardi said that '[he] did not know how good he was when he first joined the Green Bay Packers. You'd be surprised how much confidence a little success will bring.'
He fought with 'Instant Replay' collaborator Dick Schaap for three months over whether or not to include a passage he wrote referring to Vince Lombardi as a 'short, fat Italian' whom his teammates feared.
He lost out and it was decided that the passage would remain in the book (this led him to avoid sending Maria Lombardi a signed copy of the book for months out of fear she would take offense to the comments about her late husband).
Despite being an All-Pro five times, and playing in the NFL's 50th anniversary team in 1969, he has been regularly passed over for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame (as of 2016, ten times in total).
The injustice of his continued omission from the Hall of Fame resurfaced nationally during a series of pro-Donald Trump speeches given by Sarah Palin while on the stump in Wisconsin, after she called for a 'Unity Pledge' of her own for the presidential candidates to support.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was an integral part of Vince Lombardi’s famous 'Packer Sweep.'
He went through 22 surgeries over a period of 11 seasons.
He was diagnosed with actinomycosis but played through the first two games of the 1964 season anyway.
He was a former classmate and high school football teammate of Sarah Palin's father, Chuck Heath (both are in the Sandpoint High School Hall of Fame).
In addition to playing guard, he was also a kicker and led the NFL in field goal percentage in 1962.
He finished fourth in the league in scoring for the 1963 season, ahead of Jim Brown.
He was ranked #1 in the NFL Network's list of the ten best players not in the Hall of Fame (2008).
He auctioned off his first Super Bowl ring to raise college funds for his grandchildren.
He was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame (1993).
A collection of testimonials on his behalf by members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including Paul Hornung, Willie Davis, Frank Gifford, Bob Lilly, Doug Atkins, Alan Page, John Mackey, Mike Ditka, and Chuck Bednarik was sent to the Pro Football Hall of Fame to support his case (2012).
A year later, his daughter came forward with a previously lost twenty-year old endorsement letter by his old rival Merlin Olsen, which has since been called the strongest case made for him to be considered by the Senior Committee.
