Why they might be annoying:

Secor said that before ‘Wagon Wheel’ started getting airplay, ‘We just couldn’t draw young people anywhere because we’ve got this clunky moniker – we sound like a family reunion with grandpa.’
’Wagon Wheel’ has been described as ‘the acoustic musician’s ‘Free Bird’’ becoming so ubiquitous that some venues have banned its performance.
They have made several guest appearances on Garrison Keillor’s ‘Prairie Home Companion.’
They unexpectedly cancelled three shows and announced they were ‘on hiatus,’ leading to speculation that they were breaking up (2011).

Why they might not be annoying:

They got their big break when Doc Watson heard them busking in front of a drugstore and invited them to play at MerleFest (2000).
Rolling Stone wrote that they ‘marry old-time string music and punk swagger.’
They played at the Grand Ole Opry’s 75th anniversary celebration.
Marcus Mumford of Mumford and Sons said, ‘Old Crow were the band that made me fall in love with country music.’
