Hockey Player
    (June 24, 1964- )
    Born in Madison, Wisconsin
Drafted 180th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft
Defenseman for the Calgary Flames (1985-94), Chicago Blackhawks (1994-98) and the San Jose Sharks (1998-2002)
    Calder Trophy Winner (1986)
Formally announced his retirement in Fall 2002
In the 1991 Canada Cup, he issued a very hard hit on Wayne Gretzky forcing Gretzky to miss the remainder of the competition.
Eight years after the Canada Cup incident, he issued a similar hit on Paul Kariya forcing Kariya to miss the Nagano Olympic competition.
Typical of many of his NHL colleagues, his favorite off-ice activity is golf.
Despite his controversial checks on Gretzky and Kariya, he was known to be a gentlemanly player.
In his final professional year, he collected a total of 33 points (six goals and 27 assists).
He is a University of Wisconsin alum.
He participated in four All-Star tournaments and two Olympic competitions (with one Silver Medal one of the latter events).
He retired with a 1989 Stanley Cup win to his credit.
He is labeled 'The Power Play Specialist.'
