He was widely expected to be a franchise defenseman upon being drafted by the Lightning.
He is prone to frequently turning the puck over in his own zone.

He laid out Sidney Crosby with a hit to the head from behind, which caused the latter to miss a good portion of two seasons as a result of concussion issues.

Due to his large frame, he was compared to Chris Pronger upon being drafted.
He won two silver medals with the Swedish junior team (2008, 2009).
He was the first player since Chris Gratton to wear #77 for the Lightning.
He is a skilled defenseman who isn't afraid to use his size to his advantage.
He earned Rookie of the Year honors while playing for MoDo of the Swedish Elite League (2009).
