The Resume

    (1876- )
    Root for the Chicago Cubs
Attend games at Wrigley Field (April 20, 1916- )
    Capacity 38,965
Wrigley Field originally named (Charles) Weeghman Park
Chicago Whales played Federal League Baseball from 1914-15 at Weegham
Cheered their team to World Championships in 1907 and 1908

Why they might be annoying:

They boo louder than most fans in baseball.
They are known to pelt opposing players with coins, garbage, beer bottles, etc., simply for playing well against the Cubs.
Men go shirtless in the bleachers during day games in the summer.
They literally wanted to kill Steve Bartman after interfering with a foul ball during the playoffs (2003).
One fan wanted to bring his goat into the stadium.
For years, they resisted night baseball.
Owner Phil Wrigley donated the money for Wrigley Field lights to the war effort (1942).
In the early 80's, when the Cubs announced they were installing lights, fans organized an opposition group.
Illinois Legislature fueled by fan pressure passed a law specially aimed to impede Wrigley getting lights (May 13, 1982).
After their team made the playoffs in 1984, MLB ruled that when the Cubs make the playoffs next time they will have to play in a stadium with lights.
Wrigley agreed to install lights on February 23, 1988 and the fans moved out of the dark ages.
Fans who went to the first night game at Wrigley saw only four innings of baseball as rain washed out the game (August 8, 1988). Some claimed it as an omen.
They do not like White Sox fans.
Just about none of them can remember their team winning a World Series.

Why they might not be annoying:

They were the first to hear daily radio broadcasts of their team (1924).
Despite the Cubs being downright awful most years, they pack Wrigley Field to full capacity almost every day.
They sit in the last remaining ball park that was home to a Federal League team.
They began the ritual of throwing opposing team home runs back onto the field, because they don't want the ball.
They traditionally sing 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game' during the seventh inning stretch.
They loved their sportscaster Harry Carey.
They are traditionalists and do not want a new ball park.
They enjoy the antics of super fan Ronnie 'Woo Woo,' who hyphenates his cheers with every other word being 'woo.' Harry Carey nicknamed him Leather lungs.
They are exceptionally proud of the ivy that grows on the walls of Wrigley, making it unique.
They cheer at the last stadium to remain advertising free.
