The Resume

    (August 15, 1195-June 13, 1231)
Birth name was Fernando de Bulhões
    Resided in Padua, Italy
Also known as Anthony of Lisbon
    Became a Franciscan friar (1220)
Patron saint of lost items (and many other things)

Why he might be annoying:

    He grew up rich.
    He was a crappy student.
Superstitious people pray to him for cures for everything from sterility to typhoons.
His tongue reportedly did not decompose when he died.
30 years after his death, St. Bonaventure removed his tongue from his coffin and kissed it.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was a great speaker.
    He reportedly performed many miracles.
He was named a saint less than a year after his death – the speediest canonization in history.
He remains one of the most popular Catholic saints.
His tongue is still on display at the Paduan Basilica.
