    Hockey East Coach of the Year Award winner (1986)
    Hobey Baker Legends of College Hockey Award winner (2014)

Why he might be annoying:

    He threatened to take the head coaching job at Yale after his third season, when the school wouldn't give him a raise.
    He drove halfway to New Haven on the way to the interview, before he opted to cancel it.
    He was rumored to have been forced into retirement by the school as a result of a sexual assault scandal involving two of his players.
    His retirement announcement was publicly leaked over social media, before he had a chance to confirm it.
    Despite his long and storied coaching career, he received little acknowledgement due to the lack of coverage on college hockey.
    As of 2020, he hadn't been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He coached the Boston University men's hockey team for 40 years.
    He was considered a legend in NCAA college hockey.
    He admitted the worst experience in his career was watching Travis Roy get paralyzed eleven seconds into his first shift as a freshman.
    He guided Boston University to three NCAA National championships (1979, 1995, 2009).
    Despite his policy of not allowing players to wear high numbers, he allowed Matt Gilroy to wear #97 as a tribute to his late brother.
    He demanded hard work and accountability by his players and expected them to give 110% in both practice and in game.
