Why he might be annoying:

    He likes to golf in his spare time.
    Despite being selected on the All-NBA Second Team three times, he was never on an All-NBA First team.
    His NBA coaching career was a disappointment.
    As he coached the Royals to the playoffs, his players suffered injuries which prevented the team from advancing to the next round (1958).

Why he might not be annoying:

    He served in World War II as a U.S. Marine.
    He recorded a shooting percentage that went over 90% from the free-throw line, becoming the first NBA player to do so (1952).
    He and Bob Davies formed as a duo to help the Royals win the 1951 NBA Championship.
    He coached the Royals to the playoffs in their first season in Cincinnati.
