Why he might be annoying:

    He changed his name from Sharmon Shah to Karim Abdul-Jabbar.
    He also wore Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's number 33.
    Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sued him over the use of the 'Karim Abdul-Jabbar' moniker.
    He had a less then stellar career with the Dolphins which led to his release.
    He signed with the lowly Cleveland Browns.
    He is more known for using the basketball legend's name then for his on-field performance.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He complied to the orders and changed his name plate from 'Abdul-Jabbar' to simply 'Abdul.'
    He signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent (1996).
