Why he might be annoying:

His diet requires consumption of pure proteins (including meat, fish and shellfish, poultry, and eggs) and pure fats (butter, olive oil, and mayonnaise) for the first two weeks.
The dieter is required to cut out pasta, bread, sugar, potatoes and grains from the diet.
He suffered a cardiac arrest (2002) but denied it was diet related, claiming it was caused by a viral infection.

He received his medical degree at Cornell University Medical School (1955).
He founded the Dr. Robert C. Atkins Foundation an organization dedicated to improve medical practices in the United States (1999).
Millions have lost weight quickly on his plan.
