Why he might be annoying:

    He is one of six children.
    He dropped out of the University of Washington.
    He angered Seattle SuperSonics fans as he had failed to keep the SuperSonics from moving to Oklahoma City (July 2008).
    His popularity fell following the SuperSonics' departure from Seattle.
    He was the namesake for an illegal homeless tent city in Seattle, 'Nickelsville.'
    He ran for a third term as the mayor and lost in the primary election.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was Seattle's first Democratic mayor to be elected in the 21st century.
    He is against illegal gun action in the streets.
    He was instrumental in the groundbreaking of the Sound Transit Link's light rail project (November 2003).
    He won a few environmental awards for setting up a goal for health and air quality protection (2006).
