Queen of Palmyra (now in modern-day Syria) from 267 to 272 AD
Ascended the throne for her infant son when her husband Odenathus was assassinated
Rebelled against the Roman Empire and created her own kingdom by conquering Syria, Egypt, and Asia Minor (Turkey)

Why she might be annoying:

She claimed to be a descendant of Cleopatra (probably false).
This claim compelled her to conquer Egypt.
When the Romans captured her, they took her to Rome where she was paraded around shackled in gold chains.

Why she might not be annoying:

She was a tolerant ruler.
Emperor Aurelian spared her life due to the fact she was a woman.
She was known for her toughness and was able to march along with male soldiers for miles.
In addition to her native Aramaic, she also spoke Greek, Latin, and Egyptian.
The Emperor presented her with a Roman villa, where she settled down peacefully and eventually married a Roman senator.
