Why he might be annoying:

He didn’t look particularly brawny (especially next to Alicia, a personal trainer).
His personal effect of choice? War paint.
He also used the blood of a pig as war paint.
On the CBS Early Show, he said: ‘If I was playing a game of Monopoly, I would try and bankrupt everybody on the board and I would be as ruthless as possible to win that game.’
He passed out right over the campfire he was tending and fell face first into the flames.
This injury enabled the opposing tribe to take control at the merge, which might not have happened otherwise.
Elisabeth said he was ‘just plain nuts.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He is a triathlete.
PETA hates him.
He isn’t a vegetarian (which probably did not endear him to Kimmi).
He bagged a pig for a tribal meal (to which Elisabeth replied, ‘Whoa, we’re gonna get strong now!’).
His tribe felt completely powerless to save him. Elisabeth, in particular, was in tears as he had to be airlifted out of camp — and the game.
He is the first Survivor to have been eliminated (1) without ever receiving an ouster vote and (2) through circumstances otherwise beyond his control.
He planned his final-three strategy well ahead of time.
