Why he might be annoying:

He had a number of arm and shoulder injuries in his career.
He missed the Cardinals 2004 playoff run due to a nerve injury in his right bicep.
He doesn't show a lot of personality in his interviews.
Before joining the Cardinals, he never won more than 12 games in a season.
Some people felt that Dontrelle Willis deserved the 2005 National League Cy Young Award more than him.
His name gets confused with former Cardinals pitcher Cris Carpenter.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was the first Cardinals pitcher to win the National League Cy Young Award since 1970 when Bob Gibson won the award.
He went 36-10 in his first two seasons with the Cardinals.
He was an All-State selection in high school in both baseball and hockey three times each.
In 2005, he had the longest stretch of starts where he went at least 6 innings, allowing less than 3 earned runs since Bob Gibson in 1968.
He has a mid-90's fastball along with a good curve ball, change-up and slider.
