    Birth name was Frances Wolfe
Performed with the bands of Billy Esckstine, Charlie Barnet, Claude Thornill and Harry James
Recorded the singles 'A Sunday Kind of Love' (1947), 'A Wonderful Guy' (1949), 'Envy' (1949) and 'I Said My Pajamas (And Put On My Pray'rs)' (with Tony Martin, 1950)
Appeared in the film 'Abbott and Costello Meet Captain Kidd' (1952)
Appeared in productions of 'The Pajama Game,' 'Finian's Rainbow' and 'Mame'

Why she might be annoying:

She dropped out of high school because, 'I preferred to concentrate on the works of Sidney Bechet and Duke Ellington rather than plane geometry and medieval history.'
When she was sixteen, she auditioned for Ellington's band, but was turned down.
    She advertised for Camel Cigarettes.
She was busted for marijuana possession (1964).
At the same time, her boyfriend was busted for a million-dollar check swindle and the district attorney said that she knew about the scheme.

Why she might not be annoying:

During WWII blackouts, she would entertain people by imitating their favorite singers.
Her recording of 'A Sunday Kind of Love' is considered a big band classic.
She was not charged with participating in her boyfriend's check scam. (Possibly due to her willingness to appear before a grand jury investigating the case.)
The New York Times critic described her stage show as alternating between 'torchy drama' and 'being gregariously down to earth.'
