She grew up a Prince fanatic.
College friends of Mani, as she is known, described her as a loner who spoke only about art (her major) and Prince.
She posted infrequently on alt.music.prince before meeting him, usually inquiring about purchasing bootlegs.
After graduating from college, she moved from Toronto to Minneapolis to work at Paisley Park, Prince's home and studio.
After only a year, she became his 'personal assistant.'
Insiders have speculated that she may have caused the break-up between Prince and his first wife, Mayte Garcia.
