Why he might be annoying
He killed 13 people within a 12-minute span on September 9, 1949, in Camden, New Jersey.
His victims were as young as six years old.
He once said: 'I'd have killed a thousand if I had bullets enough [sic].'
He was sent to a mental institution in Trenton, N.J. and was never actually tried for the killings.
After 31 years of captivity, the murder charges against him were dropped (1980).
Why he might not be annoying
He served in World War II, coming home to a hero's welcome.
He is said to be very intelligent.
He surrendered peacefully.
He was not released from prison.
