TV Series
    (March 19, 1984-May 22, 1989)
    Comedy series
    Originally aired on CBS
Susan St. James as Katherine Elizabeth Ann 'Kate' McArdle
Jane Curtin as Allison Julia Charlotte 'Allie' Lowell/Barsky
    Ari Meyers as Emma McArdle
Frederick Koehler as Charles 'Chip' Lowell
    Allison Smith as Jennie Lowell
Premise: Two divorced mothers share a brownstone while raising their respective families in New York City's Greenwich Village
The sitcom was to be titled 'Two Mommies.'
There were constant rumors that Kate and Allie were lesbians.
The series was heavily affected by the 1988 Writers Guild of America strike.
Some fans say that the show 'jumped the shark' when Allie accepted Bob Barsky's marriage proposal at the end of the fifth season.
Because it was initially a midseason replacement, only six episodes were produced.
However, strong word of mouth from both critics and viewers facilitated a second season.
The series continued the emergence of strong, independent single women.
The series was filmed both at the Ed Sullivan Theater and Teletape Studios (the former studio where Sesame Street was once taped).
