Why he might be annoying:

He was a liberal commentator on a conservative-leaning news network.
Many liberals viewed him as a pushover and a weak debater when compared to his co-host Sean Hannity.
Al Franken referred to him in print as 'colmes,' written in a small font.
Depending on which interview you read, he described himself as either a liberal or a moderate.
He almost sued Chuck D for sampling his voice for a song.
He received a lot of vicious hate mail. One person wrote that he wished Colmes had been on Paul Wellstone's plane when it crashed.

Why he might not be annoying:

His radio show included a variety of guests ranging from politicians to celebrities.
He got the first interview with Jessica Hahn after the Jim Bakker scandal broke.
When he was allowed to speak on 'Hannity and Colmes,' his arguments were usually well-researched and fair.
His book received praise from politicians of different political beliefs, including Ralph Nader and Newt Gingrich.
He believed that a true liberal is someone who is open to all ideas and opinions, regardless of who they come from.
On his website, he had a clock counting down to the end of George W. Bush's second term.
