Why he might be annoying:

He dropped out of Kenyon College.
He usually wore overalls and a blue work shirt to formal occasions.
When the Tate Gallery purchased his Equivalent VIII, there were complaints in the press that $6,000 of taxpayers’ money had been spent on buying a bunch of stacked bricks.
A critic later called Equivalent VIII ‘the most boring controversial artwork ever.’
A doorman heard a woman yelling ‘No, no, no’ just before Mendieta fell from Andre’s 34th floor apartment.
He had fresh scratches on his nose and arms.
The story he told the police differed from the one he had earlier given to the 911 operator.
The Guerilla Girls dubbed him ‘the O.J. of the art world.’

Why he might not be annoying:

He worked as a conductor and brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad.
His minimalist ideas were influenced by a visit to Stonehenge in England.
He encourages visitors to walk on his installations.
He said he likes to make sculptures you can be in the same room with, but ignore if you choose to.
Asked about the critical theorizing inspired by minimalism, he replied, ‘I thought that was nothing but bullshit.’
