He goes by his first and middle initials rather then his given name.
He never played a game in the NBA.
He transferred to Minnesota after two years at Oregon State.
He got his break into the NBA coaching staff through nepotism, as he served on his dad's coaching staff in Charlotte.
Despite guiding the Rockets as their interim head coach, he withdrew his name from accepting the head coaching job permanently.

He was part of the first (prior to the 2014 retcon) Charlotte Bobcats coaching staff.
He made his own style as a coach, rather than copy his dad.
He guided the Rockets to a playoff berth in his lone season as coach.
He earned the trust of the Grizzlies core players, many of whom lobbied to have him hired as the team's permanent coach.
He and Bernie are the first African-American father-son tandem in NBA history to serve as head coaches.
