Despite posting solid numbers at Yale, he was passed over in the NHL Entry Draft.
Many teams passed on him as a result of his small stature.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was a standout forward at Yale University.
He posted impressive numbers in the ECHL ranks, which earned him a midseason promotion to the AHL (2011-12).
He had a good sense of humour as a result of his status of being the NHL's nomadic player during the 2014-15 season.
In addition to his busy season, he played for the United States at the World Hockey Championships.
